Hello and welcome to my food blogging website!  

The Average Gourmet was founded in 2019 and covers Tyne and Wear, Northumberland 

and Durham predominantly , but has aspirations at venturing further afield.

I am Steven, just a typically average guy, living and working in the North East of England.  Although I 

classify myself as an average guy, I do like to celebrate and experience good, well prepared food and 

drink at a reasonable cost, average food is just not good enough.  Anything less than average, 

well….lets not even venture towards that unsavory possibility!

I was born and raised in the North East and have visited many local food establishments, some good, 

some terrible and thought it's about time I share my experiences with other foodies out there browsing 

the World Wide Web, hoping for some support in their food endeavors. 

I believe after a hard day at work, or for that special event, or even just for the hell of it, we should be 

rewarded with good food and drink when we want and know where to find these little food gems 

throughout the North East and beyond.  That, I hope, is where this food blogging website could help.  

This is my first blog, my first website, my first venture into publishing my thoughts, experiences and
